Sixth form students from Mulberry Stepney Green have just returned from an adventure of a life time. Ten students have just completed a 5 day Tall Ships voyage along the south coast of England. Students learned how to live, sail and navigate on board a Tall Ship. In addition, the voyage was focused on STEM at sea. So, students learned about the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics involved in sailing a Tall ship. This has been particularly useful for those students aspiring to a career in engineering. Throughout the voyage students faced strong winds and wet weather which all contributed to an increase in confidence, leadership and teamwork.

This voyage was a part of a two voyage package funded by the Lloyds Register Foundation. They have generously provided £18,000 to promote STEM at sea. In two weeks time our year 10s will be taking on a similar adventure. We look forward to building this partnership with Lloyds as we continue to promote STEM in our school.
